A winter storm watch for the kern county mountains and the higher
elevations of the southern sierra nevada remains in effect from
late tonight through monday evening.

snow will begin very early monday morning...with the heaviest
precipitation expected during and after the mid day hours. Snow at elevations above 1000 feet with
accumulation above 4000 feet may range from 14 to 30 inches and
may exceed 3 feet locally over the high country.

Southwest winds gusting to 60 mph may develop over the southern
sierra nevada crest just before the storm and produce locally
white-out conditions.

a winter storm watch means there is a potential for significant
snow...sleet...or ice accumulations that may impact travel .
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
