Sherman WORK PARTY to MOVE YURT

    Sherman Pass riding area NFS Bob needs help to tear down the YURT at the meadow and move it to the maintenance yard area.
    Bear ripped it up again so it needs repair.

    NFS Bob thinks it will take 2 days and would like to do it on a Saturday & Sunday in September. He thinks we should do this before the snow starts fallin so Bob suggested the 10th or 17th? You can suggest other dates.

    To volunteer for the work party please call the KERNVILLE NFS at 760-376-3781 ask for Bob Fernes and leave a message on what date(s) you can help along with a call back number.

    I talked to Bob Frenes and the project is to move the Yurt and repair it when putting it back up at the new location. The plan to move the Yurt is to prevent the heavy snow load from collapsing it like it did this year. We're leaning on Sep 10th and we'll need people to help and to bring cordless drills as most of the Yurt is screwed together.

    I left a message with Bob today to see if any other tools or material is needed. I'll report on what I find out. Hopefully the 10th works out with everyone... we'll be there.

    Anyone have any update? I left a message with Bob, but haven't heard back as far as date, tools and material needed, etc....

    When I talked to him last the date was pretty firm at Sept 10th. And all he said he needed were cordless drills for the screws. He will bring everything else. I'll make sure to post if I hear more.

    I talked to Bob today and we are still on for Saturday Sherman Yurt moving party! Bob is planning to go up on Thursday and start disasembly. We will meet him at the Yurt location (Paloma Meadow) at 9:00 AM Saturday.

    Things to bring:
    Cordless Drills to be used as screwdrivers
    Shovels to level out the new Yurt area
    General hand tools
    Large Levels to level floor (I will be bringing my 6 foot Level)
    Obvious things like food and water

    Please confrim your attendance by Friday night 9 PM by calling me on my cell. 661-334-0754

    I will then let Bob know how many people we have coming.

    The forest service was able to get the Yurt taken down and loaded on the trailer. They will be moving it in the morning and we will now be able to meet them at Curlis Meadow. This is the first dirt road on the right hand side after passing the 103 and 104 on the left hand side. See you there.
